Short answer, no. However, there are options to potentially bill your insurance provider. This practice operates as a cash-based clinic and provides comprehensive "superbills" upon request, enabling patients to seek out-of-network reimbursement or utilize pre-tax FSA/HSA accounts. These specialized invoices contain the necessary coding to help maximize coverage for acupuncture services while simplifying the reimbursement process.
Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to confirm out-of-network coverage, including deductible, visit limits, and diagnosis coverage. Understanding these specific benefits ensures a seamless, informed experience when integrating care with personal wellness goals.
To help determine if you have coverage, we have included a checklist of questions you can ask your carrier.
Checklist:
1. Does my plan cover acupuncture?
2. Does my insurance cover these procedure codes for acupuncture: 97810, 97811?
3. What is the annual acupuncture benefit (dollar amount or number of treatments)?
4. Does my plan cover acupuncture for the treatment of (refer to your condition)?
5. Does my plan require a referral from a Primary Care Physician (PCP)?
6. Does my plan require pre-authorization before treatment?
7. Does my plan require re-authorization after a specific number of treatments?
8. How do I submit my claims? Address? FAX? Website?
9. What is my deductible and how much have I met to date to cover my acupuncture treatments?
10. Get the name of the representative you spoke to.

Acupuncture is generally pain-free because the solid, sterile needles are as thin as a strand of hair and do not cut the tissue like standard medical syringes. It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous about needles. Most patients feel only a fleeting pinch or nothing at all upon insertion, followed by a mild tingling or dull, warming sensation that indicates the body's natural healing response has been activated. The process is so gentle and deeply relaxing that many clients frequently fall asleep during their session.

To prepare for an acupuncture session, ensure you have eaten a light meal a few hours prior and are wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms, legs, and abdomen. Please select a quiet, clean space in your home or workplace where the practitioner can easily set up their treatment table. To maximize your healing benefits, it is best to avoid caffeine immediately before your appointment and plan for a period of calm relaxation both during and after your treatment.
